The Car

Samuel Lloyd & Co are delighted to be able to offer on consignment, this fantastic last year UK specification 300 TDI. One for the enthusiast, who admires the capability and simplicity the 300 TDI offered the Land Rover community worldwide.

Land Rover ceased supplying 300 TDI within Europe at the end of 1997 due to revised emissions policy. However the engine went on to have a prosperous roll in Land Rovers non EU export market vehicles. It subsequently went on to amassed a reputation in the Land Rover world as one of the most reliable and dependable engines Land Rover have ever built. So much so that demand from the likes of the MOD, NATO, and non-EU civilian sales, meant that this engine continued production up until 2006.

This particular vehicle was first registered on the 28th February 1997. It's had 4 previous owners before the current owner, who acquired the vehicle in August 2017 from marque Land Rover specialist Simmonites in Thornton Bradford. Prior to purchase Simmonites undertook one of the renowned and comprehensive refurbishment to include rebuilding the engine and installing a galvanised chassis. They subsequently installed a new gauge cluster, to record the vehicle's mileage post restoration. The owner has used the vehicle as his daily driver adding around 14,000 miles to the vehicle annually.

The Defender’s maintenance routine has been somewhat military, with substantial cost allocated towards carrying out preventive maintenance to ensure the vehicle performs like clockwork on a daily basis. In addition to this the owner has made a host of personal improvements. Cosmetically the vehicle benefits from a Led front bumper, JW speaker headlights, KBX High Force air vents, Boost wheels fitted to General Grabber tyres and Momo Quark Leather steering wheel. Mechanically there is also a host of performance upgrades, to improve the vehicles usability and reliability. These include Ali Sport radiator and Aluminium header tank, uprated turbo charger by Turbo Technics, along with a host of other improvements carried out by Twisted and LR Motors in Thirsk.

Maintenance, modifications and improvements carried out since the owner acquired the refurbished Defender Hardtop from Simmonites in 2017 currently stands in excess of £20,000. Documents for this work are accompanied with the vehicle. There is also a further refurbishment document from Simmonites which details the work conducted by themselves along with the parts fitted.

AN UPDATE FROM THE TEAM

We are here and open for business

These are truly extraordinary times. Although we’re not as raring to go as usual, we still remain open, with shipping line's continuing to run, although at a reduced frequency.

  Keeping our distance

Fortunately we are a small team and geographically spread. The team are largely working from home with the exception of our independent mechanics who are able to continue to work safely.

What does this mean for YOU

We continue to operate and send out vehicles globally on a monthly basis. Our ability to prepare a vehicle to a client's specification is somewhat stifled. Although our mechanics are doing their very best, to meet smaller requests.

  Fast Moving Cars

 AKA lockdown project.

We’ve been working hard over recent months to gather a collection of "FAST MOVING CARS". These are rolling projects, although not perfect, they are ideal for first time importers giving a taste of what English classics have to offer.

  Fighting fit in no time

We are confident that we will come through this stronger and we wish safety and good health to everyone and their families.

We are only a call, email or text away so please don’t hesitate.
